A Visit to Semi Submersible Platform

TerbaekWoo (Visit) - Salam all. For this post, I would like to share my experience visited the semi-sub platform at nearby Sabah, Malaysia. Semi-sub is a kind a MODU designed with a platform type deck that contains drilling equipment and other machinery supported by pontoon type columns that are submerged into the water. This type of platforms are the most stable of any floating rig due to their ability to withstand rough waters (Source: Rigzone). So for this visit, I had been assigned to to some survey on this platform before we mob our equipments on the topside. Under Well Testing team, this job considered agak challenging since we dealing with high pressure and temperature  during the operation so a lot of precautions to be taken.
We went there by boat from Labuan and took around half an hour to reach at the semi sub. This semi sub tengah buat preparation before move to the real field for drilling activities. From far, tengok semi sub ni macam kecil but after berada on the topside kira agak besar juga. Try to see this yellow stuff, but I forgot the name since I left Halliburton quite some time. Driver kot rasanya, arghh malas nak recall back the name. Siapa yang tahu maybe can put the comment. Benda kuning ni akan hold the batang-batang semasa kerja penggerudian ni. Drilling memang agak tough la and can say dangerous takut-takut kalau ada blowout ke then that i why they put BOP (Blow Out Preventer) to handle the downhole pressure. If you still remember back to year 2010, there was oil spill disaster happen at Gulf of Mexico (Macondo). But banyak sangat spekulasi berkenaan sebab musabab insiden itu happen. One of it yang I know they modified the BOP so as the result when the blowout happen, BOP cannot cut the line properly and it stuck. Then, apa yang berlaku- gas keluar dari celah-celah BOP and accumulate at the rig topside and exploded.

During the visit, sempat I took picture of the "Rotary Table" where the drilling take place. Bilik kat bawah ni they called "Dog House", padahal yang dalamnya orang. Kesian tak pasal-pasal dalam tu pun dipanggil "dog" :). On the bottom right tu lah Rotary Table.
After the meeting with Rig supervisor and clients done, and our mission was completed then we started to demob from rig and return to Labuan by speed boat. Along the way, sempat I snapped one photo of Jack Up Rig in floating mode. I think they must me mobilize to somewhere. InshaAllah, if I have time, I will share my experience visited the Jack up Rig on my next post.
So I can concluded that this visit really benefical to me as I can see with my own eyes how the Semi Sub looks alike and the machinery that they have. Before I left, sempat juga took one photo for kenangan.
Adios.

My Mustang Farewell Luncheon 2013

Salam and Hi all.

TerbaekWoo versi Eat kali ini nak kongsi betapa sedapnya makanan dari negara Yaman ini. This Yemen restaurant is called Hadramawt. If you Google it, there will be a lot of Hadramawt restaurants in KL. So, this one is located nearby the used car shop (Wang Selamat) at Jalan Ampang. Actually, bukan nak cerita pasal restaurant ni sangat, cuma iklankan je manatahu owner dia kasi makan free ke. So on last &th June 2013, it was my last day with all Process Mustangers and they decided to have it at this restaurant. Can say a last minute plan, which my Head of Department atau Ketua Jabatan still want to organize this farewell for me even it was on Friday. Now I know, betapa sayangnya HOD ni to me. Even selalu kena marah and buli, rupanya dia sedih gak aku nak tinggalkan company ni. So touching :).
So, since I really love to have Yemen punya foods, jadi macam biasa lah mesti pekena Lamb Mandy, Chicken Mandy, Lamb Madghout and so on. Mamat sebelah aku ni pun tak lama lagi angkat kaki la, so kira celebrate untuk dia sekali sebab he might leave us somewhere in fasting month. Punya lah besar roti dia order.
All the girls macam biasalah control-control ayu gitu, tak habis pun aku tengok. Apa pasal la tak offer kat kitaorang. Walau dah telan Lamb Mandy kaw2, but masih lapar lagi tu. For this farewell, my HOD mewakilkan dirinya untuk bayar all the meals, rugi lak tak pow dia kaw2. Tahu order kebab, mix fruits, kambing bakar ke apa. Gaji besar tu, berapa la sangat setakat MYR300 tu bagi dia.
I am not sure when we will meet again. InshaAllah, one day. I have to leave KL as for now and look for better prospect and knowledges out there before come back to KL as Senior Engineer. To Mustangers, keep in touch and InshaAllah to see you all in future. TerbaekWoo @ Hadramawt.

I am Expat now.....in Singapore.

Hi All.

Salam...Today is my second week with my new company in Singapore. Why Singapore? Becoz it is easy for me to return to KL compare to Miri or Brunei. No need flight maa. Just drive for 3 to 4 hours already reached home. Im working with Norweign EPC company based in Singapore for a year contract. Then, we will see if they willing to absorb me then I continue but might request for relocation to Norway. That is my plan as for now then after 2 or 3 years come back to KL. Cukuplah tu duduk oversea lama-lama without Nasi Lemak, mana boleh tahan!!!.  But it is quite sad to leave KL after few years spending my time there. What to do, life must go on and I always persuade my heart to keep calm...after all, it just for temporary. Go out there and get exposure...that will make you more valuable. Selalu cakap gitu, nak pujuk hati.

Now Singapore is really in bad haze, today is 400 API or PSI what they called here. So, cannot spend my time outside after work. Habis kerja, terus balik rumah. But, here in Singapore it is quite hard to look for Halal foods compare to UK when I was there last time. UK even better in looking for Halal foods. So, basically I just go to this one Indonesian restaurant nearby to my office and it is really cheap around SGD2.70. So, kira lebih kurang KL lah after converting. But here I gained in dollars :). That's make me more2 happier. Ok got to go now, will see you later.

Terbaekwoo@Penang : Nasi Kandar & Nasi Beriani Kapitan

Terbaekwoo@ Penang: I was came back from Yan, Kedah attended my best friend's wedding. We flew by Air Asia from LCCT and landed at Penang Airport in the afternoon. This consider a first time for my baby on a flight and you know what, he snoozing all the way to Penang :(. Bangun je, already in Penang. So, tak dapatlah my son want to experience the "take off" and "landing". Anyway, just want to share with you, before we were heading to Kedah, we were having a really good lunch at one Beriani special restaurant. It is situated at Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling. This restaurant was recommended by Rapid bus driver when I was travelled from airport to Georgetown.
Well, since he is local, so maybe he knows better about foods here. I chosed to have Lamb Beriani Claypot and my wife took Beriani Ayam Claypot for her lunch. WOw, rasa dia quite spicy but I really enjoyed the way they cooked this Beriani. Taste like Lamb Khabsa. Additional to that, I just added "Telur Sotong" to increase my appetite. It only cost me RM30++ for the lunch (2 pax). So, why not you make a visit to this place and try these special Beriani Claypot and they also do have Nasi Kandar for the Nasi Kandar lovers.  Terbaekwoo@ Penang.

TerbaekWoo @ Ikan Patin Masak Tempoyak, Temerloh

Untuk TerbaekWoo (Eat), kita try to look for Ikan Patin Masak Tempoyak dan semestinya pekan yang terkenal dengan ikan yang sedap ni iaitu Temerloh. I went there with my family during this school holiday and I drove for almost 2 hours from KL. Actually boleh aje drive sejam ke Temerloh tu but malaslah kalau ada 'AES" ke 'road block" ke...tak pasal-pasal bayar saman..baik duit buat makan ikan patin ni lagi syok. At first I tried to go to Gerai Ikan Patin Pak Akob but unfortunately tak jumpa daa kedai dia. His gerai came out in TV8 for "Best In the World" slot so I decided to go there, then try cari kedai lain also tutup. On the way nak balik tu sajalah lalu dekat pekan Temerloh tu, then you know what we found here....tadaa...
Bukan main besar advertisement dia...Patin Tempoyak der...Tengok orang pun ramai, so kitaorang serang kedai dia tanpa segan silu. We arrived there quite late, dalam nak pukul 3 pm rasanya. Alhamdulillah, we managed to get these 2 set of fish. Walawei...slurrp. Comment from the floor, well boleh dikatakan two thumbs up la, berpeluh makan sebab dia buat masak tempoyak "panas & pedas". Yang bestnya, kita order dulu then baru dia masak, so kira fresh from the oven tu. Price??? Im not sure whether this consider cheap or not...they charged me RM12/set. Apa ada dalam set tu?? Of course ikan patin tempoyak + nasi with ulam. Kuah dia agak pekat so memang tak mengecewakan, tak sia-sia drive jauh-jauh.

Warung ni namanya "Go Bang" and you can LIKE them in Facebook. Manatahu dapat murah ke. Location dia next to Mobil petrol station and under Temerloh punya bridge (jalan lama). From me, I like to recommend you this warung for their Ikan Patin Tempoyak....TerbaekWoo.

TerbaekWoo @ Guildford

Guildford - So what we have here...

Salam all.

So continued my previous post with story and place that we spent in Guildford. This place is the county town of Surrey, England and took like 15 to 20 minutes from Woking by train. Here, we have University of Surrey so basically we met students from over the world when we at shopping mall, but I noticed a lot of Chinese or maybe Korean students here.
Haa..see...baru cakap...if you saw from the photo above...looks like Asian there. Haha. This visit was made during weekdays after our working hours and we decided to go Guildford. Since masa amat mencemburui kita, so I only spent my time visited the Guildford Castle at the top of mount nearby the town.
Bila tengok this picture, teringat when I was a student, main game Stronghold sampai berjam-jam nak defend the castle. Not sure how big the castle really is originally, but tengok macam kecil je maybe ni je kot yang tinggal. Yang lain maybe dah kena roboh pakai "Catapult". Really nice flowers, well managed, with the chill wind...really make me comfortable.
Memang respect la diaorang nie, they try to preserve their own originality rather than keep upgrading. So kalau kita tengok buildings dia, not much different. Dah macam ala-ala Harry Potter gitu. Guildford pun tak banyak buildings tinggi-tinggi so bolehlah sesiapa nak pencen kat sini is recommended. Sebelum chow, sempatlah I snapped photo of me sebagai kenangan kat kota Guildford nie. For the next post, I will share my findings in Reading. Tata. TerbaekWoo @ Guilford.
